Going away for several days stores up a tremendous amount of emotional and intellectual energy. We stayed along the Maine seacoast longer than I had expected. It was a glorious close to the summer: the water warm, the days bright, sunny, and clear, and the seafood incredibly fresh and wonderful.
Yesterday's drawing was exceptional in many ways. Energy pored from me, clear and authentic. I only managed about two and a half hours in the studio, but the efficiency gave great satisfaction. Today is one of my business days, which includes the hanging of one on my paintings at a local hospital, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire (this afternoon you can see it on the fourth floor).
