Yes, these are the days of progress and preparation, two steps forward and one back. The back step will be my use of new knowledge in a painting [in this case the painting "Pond]. I do not wish to describe this activity more clearly, but it is the process. The process is slower than I would wish, but I have no choice. One cannot rush real change. It has a mind of its own, even though it is my mind doing the assimilation. I am marching along in this two step - one step process (more forward - less back) and waiting for the burst, where the hard won knowledge is used in a string of new works (paintings). I am preparing for the burst, mentally and physically. Today I will stretch a canvas (54 X 54 inches) to wait beside a previously prepared larger blank canvas (60 X 72 inches).
The drawings posted today surprised me in their linear elegance. They sum the knowledge required to re-enter the painting "Pond." In tomorrows post you will see a new version of "Pond," one even closer to its promised conclusion.
