2010 ended with a week of drawings. It also ended with my optimism. I feel the efforts of the last six months will pay off in 2011. I did not complete the major paintings began in these past six months ("Pond," "Four People," and "Window"), but I did solve the first two and am now ready to solve the last one. Most of my energy went into problem solving. When paintings got solved I went on to the next thing, instead of finalizing the details of the paintings. The good part of this process is my breaking new ground without holding myself back by working on things I know how to do. I know how to finish "Pond" and "Four People," but I did not make the disciplined effort to do so. This lack of completion disturbs me because I need to market these works in 2011. I must discipline myself into completing these work as soon as possible. It is an important career necessity.
Yesterday's drawings were nothing exciting. The first and third are searches for inventive ways to express using human form, but feel a bit bizarre. The second drawing is no more than practice on construction of full figures. Here they are...
I will not get into the studio today, so there will be no post tomorrow.
