I do not want to think about this too much, but I feel like an irregular person. My art does not look like anything by anyone else. This does feel odd to me. It is what it is. I am unable to choose to be like someone else. I have wished I could, but I can't. Most of the artists in my pantheon, artists who have influenced my art, have had great impact on how our culture, how we, process visual reality. Still, I am who I am. I feel it would be sad, and weak, to choose otherwise. End of story. That said, looking at yesterday's drawing reminds me of Alberto Giacometti's early work. None of Giacometti's works are similar to my drawing, but there is an element of self-discovery in his work that is similar to mine. Giacometti obviously accepted his personal irregularity. Here are a few of Giacometti's works which most convince me that his process of discovery was similar to my current process of discovery.
