More and more I am moving toward emotionally driven decisions, or intuitively driven decisions (if that sounds more reasonable). In any case, I believe the drawings I show you today speak for themselves. There is a straightforward quality about them. They bring to me a feeling of justification. I believe, more than ever, that I am following myself through a cosmically ordained set of circumstances. I am who I am because the complexity of that which is. Here's a quote from my recent dinner at a Chinese restaurant (from the paper sliver in a fortune cookie): "You are what you do, not what you say." The problem is that doing that which is prescribed by one's personal authenticity is not as simple as mere doing. It is not discoverable without effort. Thus I am involved in the effort of doing. I become me because I am bouncing my way down a canyon of ideas filled with detritus that may or may not be true for me. I continue on this journey needing to touch many of the boulders along the canyon walls to see which run true and which run false. Slowly, but surely, I need to touch fewer and fewer boulders. Every day of this effortful journey helps me distinguish the true from the false.
