One of the problems with three-dimensional abstraction may be an asset. Viewers see visual references in my work, references of which I am unaware. Till they tell me. Then those references infect my mind; I ask, "Are those authentic? Are those references upwelling from my subconscious? Or, are they merely accidents of compositional requirements?" They are everything they are. They are real because they are now visual, whether they be references to images from my walk-about visual life, or images from my subconscious internal life. No worries. The art has meaning beyond verbal description, beyond visual description. My art is an expression of all I know and understand. My efforts lead me deeper into this knowledge, uprooting all I know and have seen, within and without me.
