I was reading the catalogue from the recent exhibition "Matisse—In Search of True Painting," which was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City earlier this year. After completing multiple important and large works commissioned by Sergei Shchukin, Matisse required a holiday to retrieve his energy. Matisse left Paris and did not paint until his return some two months later. Although I have not recently experienced the profound loss of energy Matisse did after completing those works for Shchukin, early last month I delivered important drawings to AVA Gallery for their "Drawing Invitational" exhibit. For over a month prior to the delivery of those drawings I focused on achieving a high level by drawing assiduously, day after day. That took a lot of my energy. Now I feel it coming back. Watch for a big energetic day today. Please, come back and check out tomorrow's post!
