It was weird. Two drawings were made, one in preparation to finish the painting "Pond."
The second drawing is the one made as prep for "Pond." It really is a study of the earth more than the figures. You will see some reference to it in the next posting of the painting. The ground on which the figures stand and sit is calling for definition. This second drawing is just OK. But the first drawing is plain weird, at least for me. I usually don't do illustrative art, and normally don't respond with direct references to historical events. I have made a few works of this variety, but they are difficult to connect with an actual event (see the painting for 2005 entitled "The Insurgent" at "Bio in Pictures"). In any case, the first drawing posted today is a response to my watching Roman Polanski's film "The Pianist." Neither of these drawings are thrilling stand-alone works of art.
