The painting "Pond" has moved toward a satisfactory conclusion, but there is still much work to be done. One important change is the emotional shift of the left figures, and also the moon. I wasn't expecting this, because I entered the painting to adjust local colors due to incongruity with atmospheric color. Both changes occurred for the better. The woman has now become a more mysterious figure on the right, and (reminiscent of a few of my previous works) a detached observer.
Besides work on "Pond" I made a drawing, which again took more time than I anticipated. The recent drawings are more than mere "warm-ups." Their complexity requires much energy and time to solve, and obviously connect with me more than a warm-up stretch connects with an athlete preparing for competition. The competition is the most meaningful part of the day, and the meaning in this drawing is far beyond the simplicity of my readying myself for an athletic event.
This drawing is a gender flip from the one posted on 08/28.
